Bow
There were many types of bows that changed according to the tribes. Their shapes depend on the species of wood they found. The ropes were generally made of vegetal fibre or coyote gut. And the arrowheads were made of cut stone or bone. The bow was the favorite weapon of the Indians.
War club
The war club is a wooden club with a heavy ball at its end. The war club was quickly replaced by the tomahawk. It was the preferred weapon of the Iroquois. Through the puzzles the Iroquois hunt and exchange the skin of their prey for iron knives and hatchets.
Spear
The Indians didn’t use the spear especially for war. But they used it for hunting, and in this use the lance was much shorter and had the appearance of a tool. Unlike the other weapons, when the white ones arrived, the flint tips were replaced by iron tips of a rather long size.
Shot guns
The Native Americans knew the flintlock when the Spanish arrived in the 16th century. To be able to buy a flint gun it was necessary to give twenty beaver skins at the colonial counter. For a long time the flint gun was the only model to ask for because it was much simpler to use than the percutions weapons.
Tomahawk
The tomahawk is a typical weapon, it's a little American war axe. Tomahawk were made in flintlock. It was used as an assault weapon like stone axes, then it was used by trappers. The tomahawk could be used as a pipe that could be used during speeches between members of the tribe. The tomahawk was a symbol of war and peace.
Knife
The knife was a hunting tool and was also a weapon, it was made of stone or bone and it was carried in case. The knife was used in the war for hand to hand and to scalp the dead or living adversaries. With the knife, they tore off the scalp of their opponents, decorated it and then displayed it as a trophy.
